Magazine

For this project, we had to create a magazine cover and back along with the spine through indesign. We had to take all the pictures ourselves and have an advertisement on the back. I took my pictures on the Tampa Riverwalk and made a magazine about the winter festivities in Tampa. Using Indesign was not as fun as illustrator or photoshop only because it gave me some problems as well as making it difficult to print because i used a newer version on my computer. Overall I am happy with the result of my project but will not be using indesign anytime soon.

Propaganda

For this assignment we had to create a constructivist propaganda poster. I decided to create mine on the Chicago Blackhawks hockey team. Hockey usually gets overshadowed by football, basketball, baseball, etc. This poster represents the reasons that people should watch hockey.  The only thing along the way was I began to create this in letter size, but I was able to change it to tabloid without having to restart. I didn't struggle to much in creating this it was actually really enjoyable.

Logos

For this project we had to create 3 logos for 3 different brands. I created logo for a gym, a radio show, and a law firm. I got these ideas by using resources I had, my mom owns a gym so I used her name and ideas for her gym. My high school has a radio show and I used the names of one of the student shows as the name on my project and I used my previous knowledge of working on and with the radio for the images. Finally, the idea for the law firm was used just because I find that stuff interesting. This project was not as difficult as it seemed at first. Having the knowledge of the pen tool and many different things I could do with the fonts and words really helped a lot.

Calligram

For this project we had to create a calligram, which is creating a picture using only words. With the use of illustrator and the techniques we learned in class I was able to make a design that I think is pretty cool. I used a picture of Marcus Kruger from the Chicago Blackhawks as my reference, and used words that had to do with hockey, or the Blackhawks in general. I really enjoyed this project, I struggled a little with placement and how to have a good use of values but other than that I really like the way mine turned out.

HTML

For this project, we had to code. We had specific shapes and uses of gradient colors to create through the use of coding in Dreamweaver. This was a little difficult to be able to grasp the concept of coding, but once I got the hang of it and understood it more than just copy and pasting numbers, it became an easier assignment. I would not do this again but now that I have this knowledge of coding, I will use it to be able to better understand our future projects in Illustrator.

Rotoscope

For this project we had to rotoscope video in photoshop. We had to create every aspect of this project ourselves; the video, the drawings (sketches and color), the music, the sound, the titles/credits. We had to change the fps to 10 in photoshop to get 150 frames to sketch over. This project was not difficult, but was so time consuming! If I wanted to knock out 20 sketches of the 150 frames, I would've needed hours on my hands. Creating the music for the video was fun, to be creative and be able to have created every single part of this video was so cool. But by far the best part of this, is the feeling of accomplishment when you are finished.

I'm a Toy

For this project we had to take a picture of ourselves or a friend and turn them into a toy. We first sketched the ideas we had on paper which was a little difficult for me because I am not an artist. Once we did that, we chose a sketch to recreate and take a photoshoot based off that sketch to later make into a toy through photoshop. Once we had our pictures taken, I had a lot of fun making Tamsen into a marionette. Being able to take a realistic photo and make it look almost fake and plastic is so cool to me and I really enjoyed this project.

Restoration

For this project we had to take an old damaged photo and restore it back to its original form. I chose to use a home photo of my cousin which makes this project even cooler to be able to restore a picture that means something to me. It was a little difficult to try and make everything match as well as restore some parts that had gotten burned and were just black, I had to create the rest of the car in that area using paint and the clone stamp. Overall I think I did a pretty decent job at restoring it, it looks a little like a cartoon but, you can tell what everything is and I think that's very important to have.

Multiplicity

For this project we had to take one person in one location and multiply them all over the screen. I enjoyed making this project a lot because I was able to work with my family and my mom and still doing school work. I had some challenges because I had a lot of photos that would overlap and cover another one completely, but because I had taken so many pictures it was an easy fix to just use a different picture. I really like the way mine turned out!

Form Painting

This project we had to create and shade 4 different shapes to make them look as realistic as possible using photoshop. It was difficult at first because I am not used to the photoshop software and am not the best artist. I had a little difficulty with the software but overall the work wasn't too bad and I got it done to the best of my ability! Being able to learn and create something like this was really cool.

Blog #1

Hi! My name is Gabrielle Caldanaro, I am a film and media major here at UT and am very excited about digital media. The first class really got me excited about all the new technology and programs there are available to use to create almost anything you want! This semester to come is going to be a learning experience I'm excited for. I am a freshmen here, and I got into film and media because in high school I took a broadcasting class for 3 years where we learned how to use DSLR's, shoot video, edit video, manage time on a project, and the difference between good and bad work. That class really showed me that film and media could be a real career option for me. I expect to get a good first hand experience on how to create many things that don't even have to be for my major such as, learning to create a business logo, as well as being able to transition it into my career that I will later have! I'm very excited to see where this class will lead me.
